NUDE BEACHES
The only established nude beach in Arkansas is located in the northwest corner of the state near Fayetteville. Flat Rock Beach [3] 35.9158N, 93.9337W is a riverbank site that has drawn nudists at least since the '70s and continues to attract a small number of visitors. Nudity seems to occur without hassles at Flat Rock despite its location in a rural, conservative area.

NUDE BEACHES
While the general cultural climate of Mississippi is not amenable to nude beaches, things seem to relax a bit when you leave the mainland. A remote corner of Ship Island [3] 30.2138N, 88.9493W —12 miles at sea and accessible only by passenger ferry (or private boat) from Gulfport—is quietly used by nudists with no apparent interference. |

NUDE BEACHES
North Carolina does not have any nude areas on public land that are free from the threat of anti-nudity enforcement. On the coast, any number of places along the mostly deserted Outer Banks are suitable for discreet nude bathing. One such remote spot at Pea Island [3] 35.6601N, 75.4748W (on Hatteras Island) gets sporadic nude use, but there are no exact boundaries to this amorphous nude beach. An even more remote semi-established nude beach is on Ocracoke Island [3] 35.1394N, 75.8872W along a stretch of beach designated for off-roading. It draws a small number of nudists, mainly those with four-wheel-drive vehicles who can handle driving in the sand.
Much farther south, Bird Island [4] 33.8531N, 78.5391W at the South Carolina border has a much more defined zone of nude use than do the
Outer Banks sites.
In the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, an area upstream of scenic Upper Creek Falls [3] 35.9603N, 81.8654W is a well-established skinnydipping spot. This site is located near the hamlet of Jonas Ridge, a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway.

NUDE BEACHES
There are no public areas in South Carolina where nudity can be practiced without fear of official reproach, but discreet nudity has long been practiced on a remote corner of Folly Island [4] 32.6887N, 79.8900W south of Charleston, where encounters with authorities are unlikely.
